Det-Tronics is seeking a highly qualified Algorithm Development Engineer/Scientist responsible for the development of innovative sensor system algorithms for challenging industrial applications. As an Algorithm Development Engineer, you will be responsible for preliminary research on our sensors, create computer modeling, and develop systems to enhance the functionality of our products. Additionally, you will identify areas of risk as you conduct system level algorithm development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop new mathematical algorithms for sensor signal processing, image processing, and data analysis for industrial applications

  • Model and analyze sensor performance data

  • Design new sensor diagnostic tools

  • Create calibration protocols

  • Clearly define all system and sensor algorithms needed to meet each projects’ goals

  • Conduct preliminary experimentations with new platform systems that could enhance current models

  • Research and develop innovative solutions to complex sensing applications- involving optical and chemical sensors

  • Provide technical leadership and consultation to Engineering and other departments

  • Leverage advanced sensors and data analytics to contribute to the development and integration of prototypes

  • Use partial-response maximum-likelihood (PRML) to strengthen analog data analysis

  • Define and reduce to practice system and sensor algorithms to meet the needs of industrial fire and gas detection

Qualification:

  • 2+ years of experience (including graduate projects) in data analysis, modeling, sensor algorithm development and applied mathematics

  • Experience in sensor data and signal conditioning

  • Proficient in mathematical tools such as Matlab, Mathmatica, etc.

  • Ability to translate objectives and theory to practical design using mathematical tools

  • Expertise in analog signal conditioning

  • Experience taking summarizing complex ideas presenting them to cross-functional and multicultural teams including leadership and external partners

  • Knowledge and experience of prototype development (including validation testing and fault diagnostics

  • Basic scripting experience of C/C++, Python or related languages

  • Agility to learn and adapt to industry market trends

  • Demonstrates organized and systematic documentation of design when conducting experimental research

  • Understands how to meet objectives under stress in a changing environment

  • Self-motivated to experiment and develop processes to achieve project goals

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A.

Preferred:

  • Control theory understanding of actuators, sensors, intelligent control principles, micro devices, optical-electronic systems, and/or systems integration

  • Experience with PRML is a plus

  • Expertise in optical sensing systems, image processing and sensor array algorithm development

  • Past experience with digital signal processing

  • Knowledge and understanding of Simulink software

  • Graduate level coursework in and/or work experience in digital filtering, linear algebra, stochastic processes, estimation theory and detection theory

  • Proven record of innovative research via publications or patents

  • Basic understanding of FPGA

Education:

  • Ph.D. in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or other relevant sensor algorithm development research

  • Master’s degree with 1-3 years of relevant sensor algorithm development and image processing is acceptable
