Linde Engineering North America Inc Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in Houston, Texas
The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will be part of a multi-discipline project team and is responsible for Instrumentation & Controls with regard to all engineering and design aspects for project execution. Instrumentation & Controls Engineer shall be responsible for all engineering phases, i.e. proposal, basic, detail, construction and commissioning.
The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer shall be responsible for the following activities but not limited to:
Responsible for the design and development of instrumentation systems for petrochemical and oil & gas industry.
Preparation of technical specifications for Field Instruments like Pressure, Flow, Level, Temperature, Valves, Analyzers, Metering skids etc.
Review & approve various instrumentation construction engineering documents like Installation hook ups, Cable schedules, Material take off (MTO) in compliance with recognized industry Code and safety standards, various client specifications.
Provide technical support, i.e. inquiry, technical bid evaluation and recommendations, Purchase specifications, Vendor drawing review, Inspection etc.to procurement for instrumentation & controls relevant items.
Ensure that local best practice design is applied during all project phases for competitive and cost-effective procurement and construction
Prepare various Instrumentation engineering documents like Instrument Index, Logics etc.
Prepare instrumentation calculations for control valves, flow orifices, and relief valves as required.
Prepare instrumentation calculations for Intrinsically Safe system, Safety Integrated System etc.
Assist in the technical development of assigned project P&IDs.
Coordinate and/or participate in internal and external design reviews
Provide technical support for inspection and test, construction, commissioning etc.

BS/MS in Instrumentation / Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
6 8 years of relevant experience in process plant engineering and design in EPC company.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) Certificate of Registration is desirable
ISA84 / TÜV Safety Instrumented System expert certification
Selection of appropriate type of I & C field Instruments for a given application in chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas industry
Ability to work in a multicultural environment, exposure to project execution in global work share teams as well as international vendors
Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
Understanding of workflow within an EPC engineering company environment.
Working knowledge of relevant API, ASME, NEC, NFPA, ISA and other industry standards
Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, Lotus Notes, Outlook and other Company and discipline specific software applications such as SPI (Smart Plant Instrumentation)
Familiarity with 3D CAD tools (PDS, Smart 3D) & 2D CAE tools (AutoCad, Microstation, Smart Sketches)
Possess a positive attitude, supports change & able to apply new ways of working within set timelines.
