DescriptionRole Overview: We are seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team in St. Louis, MO. You will have the opportunity to work on the important task of implementing and maintaining cost saving strategies through direct vendor contact on behalf of the company. You will also be responsible for procuring Keefe, Crawford, Access and KCN products on a timely basis, and insuring proper inventory levels.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Process purchase orders dailyComplete daily backorder listCreate and maintain strong vendor relationshipsAnalyze vendors to minimize product costs and source back up vendors, as well as source new productsMinimize out of stock products by effectively managing vendor baseDaily involvement with low stock products to eliminate backordersResponsible for accurate physical inventoriesEffective communication with receiving and sales department of low stock items, packaging changes, new or discontinued products and other inventory informationResponsible for ordering product and maintaining proper inventory levels for all warehouse facilitiesResponsible for accurate costing and processing of invoices for assigned vendorsKeep complete and current vendor filesComplete miscellaneous projects assigned by Purchasing ManagerNegotiate item selection, pricing, and payment terms with vendors as well as sample and rebate programsBid research and special bid pricingMaintain knowledge of all product linesComplete multiple projects in timely mannerEvaluate market trends and upgrade knowledge of commodities, new product opportunities, and Keefe's position in the market placeMinimum RequirementsEducation and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Other Qualifications: Minimum 3 years purchasing experience preferred Oracle experience preferred College degree preferred Quality negotiating skills Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to prioritize assignments Ability to trouble-shoot problems Must be thorough and detail-oriented Good organizational skills.
