Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Strategy, the Manager Corporate Strategy will work on the most critical strategic issues facing our business. The Corporate Strategy team at Grainger regularly interacts with senior leaders in the various business units and functions across the organization on decisions that help improve our market share, profitability and competitive advantage in a rapidly changing industry. The team plays a key role in developing and refining Grainger's corporate growth map and business unit strategy


+ Work with the Corporate Strategy leadership team to co-ordinate Grainger's corporate strategic planning process and to identify and prioritize the key strategic issues facing the company

+ Independently lead workstreams and support or manage projects that address high priority strategic issues at the corporate or business unit level

+ Engage and coordinate with business unit partners as well as other functions within the larger Corporate Strategy, Analytics and Insights team to ensure a robust point of view is developed

+ Present interim / final project findings to senior leaders across the company


+ Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering; MBA preferred

+ 2+ years of experience (pre- or post-MBA) at a top-tier strategy consulting firm (e.g. Bain, BCG, McKinsey) or in a relevant corporate role with emphasis on strategic planning and growth strategy

+ Sound business judgment and excellent research, problem-solving and analytical skills

+ Excellent communication skills with ability to structure, write and deliver presentations at the most senior levels

+ Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity

+ Passion for industrial, retail or distribution businesses that are evolving in a rapidly changing digital world
